Tony Marsh - Winner of the Art Inspired by Music Challenge!
Tony Marsh took first place with his acrylic painting "Bobby Sings the Blues" in the first art challenge of the year, "No Words Needed: Art Inspired by Music!"...
As a working artist for over 35 years, Marsh first realized he was an artist in grade school—“It was the only thing I was good at!” Born in Tennessee and a self-taught artist, Marsh enjoys working and experimenting with acrylic, oil, and watercolor. Recently, he has been using many washes of colors, a watercolor technique, while he paints with acrylics as seen in "Bobby Sings the Blues".
Marsh's subject matter, rural landscapes, is inspired by the years he spent hunting and fishing in southern Indiana and being aware of the beauty in the hills, streams and old buildings. While his work is primarily realistic, he also enjoys doing abstracts. He has been an art instructor of oil and watercolor. His work is also featured in corporate and institutional collections. Marsh is influenced by artists Andrew Wyeth and Tony Couch.
